SYNOPSIS

Inspired by the rich imagery of the Món Casteller — the world of Catalan human towers — ALETA explores the heart of this deeply rooted Catalan tradition. With a 200-year history that has been passed down from one generation to the next, this tradition is brimming with strong values, powerful imagery and raw emotion. In this piece, dance and tradition combine on the contemporary stage to celebrate culture, heritage and a sense of belonging. Movement gives us the opportunity to share rituals that connect us and remind us of who we are, where we come from, and our hopes for the future.

BACKGROUND

Founded in 2022, Cia. Marc Fernández first performed with the contemporary dance duet ÍOR, created for outdoor and unconventional spaces. The company is led by Marc Fernández, a dancer and choreographer whose distinguished career has included collaborations with renowned European companies such as the Alexander Whitley Dance Company (UK), Tanz&Kunst Königsfelden (Switzerland), Compagnie Peter Agardi (France), and in Spain, Kernel Dance Theatre, Cia. iXa Danza, Colectivo Glovo and Cia. La Quebrá, Crea Dance Company, and Cia. Helena Lizari. ALETA is his second creation, a piece inspired by the culture and imagery from the Catalan human tower tradition, known as Castellers.
