SYNOPSIS

EVERAFTER is a promise of the future — a show that unfolds under the logic of the intern archetype in today’s techno-feudal era of digital capitalism. Drawing on edging and “world-glimpsing”, it features references to the mechanics of video games, superheroes, and musicals.

A fictitious company called WKW III was created to “collaborate” with laSADCUM on the production of this piece. The show therefore becomes another promotional strategy for the company – a project that questions the idea that branding and marketing can emancipate any cause.

BACKGROUND

laSADCUM is a dance project founded in Barcelona in 2019 by Guillem Jiménez (Barcelona, 1999). Since its inception, the project has created two small-format pieces (THE UNCANNY VALLEY, 2019; THE LESSON, 2020) and two large-format works (ACLUCALLS, 2022; NAVAJA (Knife), 2024), which have been presented at venues such as Teatros del Canal (Madrid), De Singel (Antwerp), CCCB (Barcelona), Paral·lel 62 (Barcelona), TEM (València), Tanečnon (Namestovo) and Teatre Principal de Palma (Mallorca).

The project has also been involved in educational and mediation programmes, and has produced two exhibitions (CLASSMATES, 2020; TWINK TWINK TWINK, 2022).

The project has won several awards, including the ACT Award 2021 for Best International Short Dance Show (THE LESSON), the Jury Prize at Festival 10 Sentidos 2021 (THE LESSON), the PalmaDansa Award 2024 for Best Show (NAVAJA), and the DansaCat Awards 2024 for Best Show (also for NAVAJA), and Best Choreography and Best Sound Space (ACLUCALLS).
