FOSCA is a performance that explores the dark as a space for creativity and imagination. With three performers and singers on stage, and using accessible, poetic and contemporary language, the piece combines movement, live vocals, music and lighting technology to construct a visual and sonic narrative about the dark — and how we can inhabit it with curiosity and trust.
Far from being linked to fear, FOSCA proposes a poetic reimagining of the dark, transforming it into a place of fantasy, confidence and play. Its starting point is the idea that the dark ceases to be a feared space when accompanied by finely tuned tools and sensory narratives that turn it into an aesthetic and emotional experience.
BACKGROUND
Aurora Bauzà and Pere Jou are leading composers, creators and performers in the performing arts. Their work focuses on the human voice and its complex connections with the body, movement, space, the stage and light. Their compositions transcend conventional artistic boundaries, treating music as a multidimensional entity with physical, scenic, visual, dramaturgical, expressive and poetic qualities.
Their work explores the human voice and the complexity of identity from diverse perspectives, formats and stage devices, whilst always unifying their work through the creation of dramaturgical narratives using the voice. Pieces such as I am (t)here or A beginning_expanded version have been presented at prestigious events such as the Grec Festival (Barcelona), reflecting their commitment to exploring the boundaries between sound, body and movement – and inviting audiences to question the limits of perception and identity.
