SYNOPSIS

REL I GRAPA was born out of a desire to bring together two approaches to dance and establish a dialogue between tradition, contemporaneity and the frictions between them. Through this encounter, both dance and music expand their artistic horizons and allow themselves to be influenced by each other, resulting in an explosion of identities. The piece is at once a reclaiming of origins through a contemporary perspective, and a reunion of the Pérez Armero brothers, unveiling a universe of tenderness, sensitivity and mutual listening that is the foundation of both their artistic and personal relationship.

REL I GRAPA inhabits the contemporary body with traditional expressions; it revisits the past with a modern perspective; it blends folk with pop, sardanas with twerking. Above all, it simply shares the joy of dancing and the joy of making music.

BACKGROUND

The company of brothers Víctor and Raúl Pérez Armero was created to bring REL I GRAPA to life. Originally conceived as a solo, the work gradually found its true form as a dialogue between dance and music.

In this creation, Víctor – trained in traditional and popular dance, contemporary dance and performing arts – takes on the role of choreographer for the first time. Meanwhile, Raúl, with over twenty years of professional experience as a multidisciplinary artist in street shows and music projects, steps into his role as solo musician. Together they create a dialogue between their cultural influences, producing their first joint creation.
